At Ideal, students initiate and run their own school clubs. Information about these clubs are relayed to the student body at our weekly School Meetings. New members are always welcome!
As part of the greater Churchill community, Ideal students are eligible to participate in school clubs and teams at Churchill Secondary. A complete list of Churchill Clubs may be found here: CHURCHILL CLUBS 2016-2017.
Here is a short list of some of the special programs and clubs currently running at Ideal:
Ideal Mini has a thirty-year history of student involvement in the actual operation of the school. Each week we have a general student-run meeting that all students are required to attend. This is a chance for students to be involved in some of the decision making processes of the school, to announce special projects and activities, provide information on clubs, or to pass along information to the student body and staff.
School Cafeteria (Teacher – Patty)
Our unique school cafeteria is run by our Planning 10 class. Students of the class have all been certified in a Food Safe Handling program. The cafeteria is open daily from 11:40 to 12:10 and offers nutritious items prepared by the students.
Social Responsibility (Teacher – Sandra)
As a school that values our own sense of community, Ideal feels that our students need to exhibit a responsibility toward our school. To this end, we expect all students from Grades 8-12 to participate in at least one social responsibility initiative during the school year such as: Open House, Drama Nights, Ambassadors, Desserts, Arts and Drama Night etc. Students may qualify for service certificates and prizes, based on our service point system, at the end of the school year.
Ideal Science Fair (Teachers – Aaron & Ernie)
Students in Grade 8 & 9 (optional in Gr.10-12) participate in the Ideal Mini Science Fair program as part of their junior science classes. Each year, Ideal hosts its own Science Fair Day where we invite the school community to view the innovative scientific ideas designed and experimented by our students. The top projects will be chosen to represent Ideal at the Vancouver District Science Fair (VDSF) and potentially onto the Greater Vancouver Regional Science Fair (GVRSF) and beyond.
In the past number of years, we have had numerous award winning projects at both the VDSF and GVRSF, including university scholarship winners at the senior level. We are very proud of our science fair program and the hard work put forth by our students!

Me to We Club (Student Leaders – TBA)
Ideal Mini School’s Me to We Club is a group composed of dedicated students who want to make a difference in this world. They take on different initiatives, volunteer at many places, and host several fundraisers to help support both global and local charities. In the past, this group has supported clean water projects in Kenya, Vancouver’s local food bank and many more. In addition to raising funds for different causes, Me to We Ideal is also here to promote awareness and educate others about a number of issues. Last year, this club hosted Ideal’s very first Multicultural Day where students came dressed in their ethnic attire and enjoyed various games and food from different countries around the world. This year is Me to We Ideal’s second official year and they will be supporting Ecuador by raising funds for clean water projects, education, health and wellness, and many more!
